Negro Tinieblas/

Darkness Black

at London Design Festival

The bat god, deity of the underworld and the night, is a symbol of sacrifice in the
Zapotec culture. This set of table chandeliers represent god Piquete Ziña, and the rituals related to him.
Made from black clay, they are burned underground and smoked to achieve their
coal-like colour, rising from the underworld to lighten mortals in the darkness.
